"Himkok is a Tardis of a bar. From the small entrance on a side street in Oslo, you cross the threshold of a building which has many levels, both physically and in terms of the genuine talent on display. Your journey starts when you are greeted by a small distillery tucked away behind glass, which produces an aquavit used in many of Himkok’s Nordic-inspired cocktails. These are shaken up behind many of the microbars that are dotted around this amazing venue. Alongside a range of cocktails on tap, you’ll also find a fantastically broad selection of beers. You can add to this a greenhouse where all the bar’s herbs are sourced, a garden area, a library, walls lined with various pickled and fermented goods in jars, and even a barbershop. It’s this sheer mastery of hospitality which has put Himkok – and Oslo – firmly on the map when it comes to essential drinking destinations, while its various sustainable initiatives earned it the inaugural Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award."
