"The American Bar at the Savoy in London is a monument to mixed drinks, its classical status hard-earned over nearly 130 years of serving the great and the good. The special position it holds in the drinks industry is not lost on its current stewards, who respectfully follow in the footsteps of Ada Coleman, Harry Craddock and Peter Dorelli, three of the most famous bartenders ever. Since taking the title of World’s Best Bar in 2017, much-loved head bartender Erik Lorincz has departed, but his legacy remains – not least in the menu that he, bar manager Declan McGurk and their young and dynamic team created. Entitled Every Moment Tells a Story, the menu takes inspiration from the famed celebrity photography of Terry O’Neil, which has long been a feature of the bar. The cocktails that draw inspiration from each photo are themselves a snapshot of the calibre of expertise always present in a bar that never grows old, only better. New head bartender Maxim Schulte, who started his journey at American Bar in August 2018 after a stellar career in Germany, Asia and the Middle East, is set to follow in the footsteps of his prestigious predecessors."
